Bahona College, Bahona was established in 1966 and it's a Degree College in Bahona region of Jorhat district in Assam.Bahona College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University. To provide opportunity for higher education to the rural poor, the elite of Bahona and a few prominent citizens of Jorhat took the initiative to establish the Bahona College situated 9 kms away from the town of Jorhat in July 1966. Located in a campus of 7.9 acres in predominantly flood-affected part of Upper Assam, Bahona College provides undergraduate education in Arts and Science with the assistance received from the State Government by way of grant-in-aid.
During the academic year 2002-03, the College had 423 students, 58 teachers (53 permanent and 5 temporary) and 24 non-teaching staff. Under various budget heads, the College incurred an expenditure of nearly Rs. 240 lakhs in 2002-2003 and the unit cost of education was Rs. 15,205/-.

Though the College is mainly serving the Bahona area, the students are drawn from other areas as well due to the ambience provided. To have the institution assessed and accredited by an external quality assurance agency, the governing body took a decision to be assessed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and prepared a self-study report. On receipt of the report, the NAAC constituted a peer Team with Prof. K. Aludiapillai, Former Vice-Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University as Chairman and Prof. A. S. Kukla, Former Principal, Acharya Narendra Dev College, Delhi University and Dr. Debabrata Chaudhuri, Principal, Asutosh College, Kolkata as members to make an on site visit to the College to validate the Self-study Report.
