Jnanadabhiram Barooah Law College, popularly known as JB Law College JBLC came into existence in the year 1969. The College was named after the name of Jnanadabhiram Borooah, a well known personality in the legal field of Assam and the first Principal of the first Law College of Assam. Eminent educationalist late Golap Chandra Choudhury 1969-1972, the first principal, was the key-person in the establishment of the college. The JBLC is one of the leading Law Schools in North East India, imparting legal education since its inception in the year 1969. Presently the College is permanently affiliated to the Gauhati University and recognized by the Bar Council of India. It is also registered with the University Grants Commission.
