Dhubri Girls College, Dhubri started functioning from the 17th November, 1983 within the premises of Dhubri Municipal High School with a handful of lady students. Initially the college was stared with HS section which was bifurcated in 2005 making provision for a Degree College to impart education to the girls students of the locality.

The amount of money required for meeting the contingency expenditure of the college came from public donation, gift coupon draw, theatrical performances etc. The determined efforts of the sponsoring committee, the teaching and non-teaching staff contributed greatly to overcome a major difficulties faced by the college. Even the levy of ten paise on the cinema tickets collected from the three Cinema Halls of Dhubri town was a source of small financial help to the college.

However, with the provincialization of the college on 1st January,2013, it has been progressing remarkably on all sides. Now the college gas infrastructure facilities for all most all the departments of Arts stream along with well equipped central library.

The University results speak well of the high degree of academic excellence attained by the students who are equally proficient in extra curricular activities. Stress is laid on character building and all round development of the students’ personality. Special attention is paid to the economically backward and meritorious students.
