Deomornoi is a place of historical significance in the North Western part of Darrang district. It is located about 15 kms away towards the west of Mangaldai town. The need of an institution for higher education was felt during the early nineteen nineties by the residents of the area. Subsequently the Deomornoi Degree College was established in 1993 with the objective of imparting quality higher education to aspiring students. The college is situated near the famous Siala Vaishnab Temple on the bank of historically famous Mornoi River. The College campus comprises of 25 bighas of land with adequate infrastructural facilities. At present, it has more than 1200 students with the staff strength of forty-six employees. The college is permanently affiliated to Gauhati University and received permission to offer major courses in almost all the subjects of the arts stream. It offers computer application as a vocational subject. The college also has a contact centre for MA course under IDOL, Gauhati University., The college believes in imparting life-skilled and value-based education. Along with moral upliftment, the students are expected to become useful human resources of the country through introduction to the challenges of information and technological progress.
