    Birjhora Mahavidyalaya started its long journey on 1st September 1986, along with the establishment of the college, the Birjhora Mahavidyalaya library came in to existence. It was initiated with the books donated by different well wishers of greater Bongaigaon. Mr.Manabendra Das, Lecturer in Mathametics was then given the additional charge of the Library in its infancy period. Mr. Basanta Kr. Sarma, MA, BLISc took the responsibility of the Library on 30th November,1990 as the permanent Librarian.

    At present a permanent Library in the first floor of a RCC building of about 1800 sq. feet, with a well furnished Library Reading Room. At present, it has a capacity to accommodate about 100 students at a time. Computerization of the Library is in progress, data entry is almost completed. For Library automation, a recognised Software S O U L is installed. INFLIBNET (Information and Library Network) Center has provided this most popular and user friendly Software to the institution. Internet connectivity is already available in the Library. Besides this, the Library provides many periodicals, Journals, News papers, Booklets, Government Reports etc. Collections of various Encyclopedias and reference books not only enhance the inner beauty of the Library but also greatly benefited the teachers and students community.
    Sports facilities are available in the campus. Annual Sports event is held in the month of December in every year
    Good transportation facilities for its students, staff members and visiting guests.
    Proper healthcare arrangements are done by college. Proper Medical Facilities are available

    Biotechnology concerns with the exploitation of biological agents of their components for generating products and services. Biotechnology has been recently invigorated by the development of genetic engineering, which has now applications in all area of biotechnology. The government of India has established department of biotechnology to promote the biotechnological activities in the country and to keep pace competing with other countries. The development of biotechnology is totally dependent on the biological richness or biodiversity as it support the optimum exploitation of biological components for researches.

    The North east region of India is one of the richest areas in biodiversity. Without the North east region the biotechnological achievement in India obscures. There is huge scope of biotechnological research in this region to exploit the natural resources in Industrial use , production of herbal medicines, discovering the new food resources for commercialisation and and genetic resources for crop improvement as well as in environmental protection and cleaning. But due to constrain in infrastructural facilities and communication, north east region is lagging behind in this field.

    Considering the potentiality in the field of this area, the Department of Biotechnology of India started to launch some programmes to augment biotechnology research work in this area. DBT has started opening one state level Biotech Hub in every state of north east and Institutional Biotech Hub in universities, colleges and other government Institues from 2010-11. Birjhora Mahavidyalaya also applied for opening one Institutional Biotech Hub in the college and obtained grant from the DBT. Birjhora Mahavidyalaya received 19 Lakh for the first year to procure instruments and considerable, infrastructure development of laboratory and for appointment of research fellow, 4.5 Lakh in the second installment and 9.79 lakh in third installment to maintain the research work and to install power backup system. Now one research fellow is working in the biotech hub.
