Allama Iqbal Library (AIL) has completed the digitization of 18,000 books (approximately 65 lakh pages) along with 400 PhD theses.

Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir has announced that these books and PhD theses will be available as e-contents for researchers and scholars. The Vice-Chancellor also stressed on improving the standards of academics and research in the university.

"We have to set high standards and closely evaluate publications, including Ph.D and M.Phil theses, of our research scholars, to set and maintain high standards of academic integrity and honesty," the Vice-Chancellor said, adding, "The award of M.Phil and PhD degrees should be consequently subject to complete adherence to the anti-plagiarism guidelines. There shall be no compromise on it."

Under another project "Shodganga" - approved and financed by the University Grants Commission, more than 400 backdated Ph.D theses of the University have been digitized and uploaded on Shodganga - a repository of Indian electronic theses and dissertations.
