V.V. Giri Government college offers UG courses in Arts, Science and Commerce faculty. All the courses in Arts, Science and commerce allow elective subjects in only 3 programmes of options in UG level. BA and B.Com courses are aided by govt. of Andhra Pradesh. The B.Sc course is self financing and career oriented with computer science as one of the elective subjects. The college is affiliated to Andhra University. The university designs the courses according to the UGC guidelines. For every three years, these courses are reviewed and updated by the Andhra University. However this college reviews the curricula annually in the college council meeting and suggestions are forwarded to the university. A. Senior member of the staff is on the Board of studies of the Andhra University. Bapiraju Dharma Samstha Trust established the college in 1974 in rural and backward area. The college has been putting good efforts to provide diversified higher educational avenues to multitudes of poor and backward sections of the society. The college has faith in its mission 'Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya'
This college has a designated person for Extension activities under the NSS programme and several extension activities like Community Development, Health and Hygiene Awareness, Adult Education and literacy programmes and Aids awareness programmes.

Two teachers have the M.Phil degree and one teacher attended an international seminar in USA for one month. Six teachers attended refresher and orientation courses, seminars and workshops. The College also offers remedial programmes and Bridge Courses. This college follows self appraisal method for teachers, as well as assessment by students. The appraisal reports are scrutinized by the Academic council and discussed. Class room attendance of the student is monitored by the college attendance committee. Regular parent - teacher - student meetings are conducted and action is initiated for those students who are irregular in their attendance.
Permanent teaching and non teaching staff are appointed by the Andhra Pradesh Govt. In case of vacancies, Principal is authorized to appoint temporary teaching staff on contract/ guest basis in consultation with the Director of Collegiate Education, Andhra Pradesh.

This college has linkages with local Industries, and MOU's with several organizations, banks and other agencies. Some teachers have developed teaching modules and additional curricular inputs, to supplement the regular curriculum. College has conducted regional level workshops and seminars on curriculum designing in Economics and Commerce subjects. Teachers participate in National Red Ribbon club, Eco club, Women Forum and Medical camps. Blood donation camp and environmental awareness have been undertaken by the college. In addition students and staff planned and worked various extension activities along with NGO's and GO's such as water conservation compaign, literacy awareness, Red Ribbon club in collaboration with Lions Club of Akividu. Many students act as volunteers of Byrraju Foundation to run adult literacy centers. NSS volunteers, organise eye camps and pulse polio programmes. The college women forum takes up issues like anti dowry campaigns, and imparts training in handcrafts. Department of Political Science conducted a survey on child labour. College encourages the NSS students to participate in Youth festival and National Integration camps. The College Research Guidance Cell guides the students to take up project on National issues.

Criterion IV: Infrastructure and learning resources:
The college has good academic atmosphere, adequately built up space with 9 class rooms, Physics and Computer laboratories, Principal's room and office, library, staff rooms, indoor gymnasium, girls' waiting room, table tennis and chess room, NSS room, students' rest rooms and MANATV Hall cum seminar Hall. General maintenance committee is to look after all the maintenance of the college building and furniture. Government of Andhra Pradesh releases 10% of grants for building construction cost as per the PWD rates of the Andhra Pradesh for the yearly maintenance of the building. The college library has an advisory committee and also book bank facility. The library has facilities like reprography, computers, audio and video cassets and internet. Steps have been taken to computerize the library services. The total number of books available in the library are 3033. The library receives 4 journals and periodicals. During the academic year, a government grant has been received and books have been purchased for the Library to the tune of Rs: 1,49,000/- which is in addition to Rs: 71,124/- spent in the past. Library functions for all the six days a week from 9 A.M to 6 P.M. A well wisher has donated books worth Rs: 50,000/- and also racks to stock the books. The central computer facility is available in the library with hardware and software and other configurations. Computer facility is also available from 9 am to 6 pm on working days. Each Department is provided with one computer and there are 33 computers in the college.
