Located in Aditya Degree College was established under the auspices of the Bruhaspathi Educational Society, Srikakulam (Regd.No 728/1994) in the year 2000 under affiliation to the Andhra University. The Board of Management comprises a group of highly educated individuals, young and energetic, committed to the first objective of the society, i.e. to promote quality higher education in the district. Inspired by the academic spirit of the Founder Chairman Dr. S. Ramachandra Rao, M.D., the well-known cardiologist of the town and Former Professor of Medicine, Andhra Medical College Visakhapatnam, they are guided by a strong academic zeal, rather than economic weal. The College came in to effective functioning from the year 2000-01 with full fledged labs, and ever since keeping up its strength 300+, despite new Colleges coming up every year. With not the slightest compromise on academic matters, and with its well – defined code of conduct, the College soon earned for itself good reputation in the district., The Academic Programme, The University Academic programme is implemented in Toto, and the College spares no efforts in seeing that the students receive the best guidance in their studies. The results have always been encouraging. Tests and examinations are indicated in the college calendar so that students can plan their studies in advance. While designing any programme, top priority is given to the academic improvement and welfare of Students. Parents are constantly kept in touch with the progress of their Children., Infrastructural Facilities, The College shifted to its newly – acquired permanent accommodation in 2005. With spacious classrooms and fully equipped laboratories, and with its calm and pleasant location, the new premises has become an ideal place of learning. The Computer Science lab is unique in its own way with all facilities including the Internet. With the introduction of the new integrated Communication – based curriculum in English, a good language lab is actively taking shape. A library with over 1000 titles and a spacious reading room with some journals, periodicals and news papers are also provided., The strengths of the college with uniqueness, The Academic Director Sri S. Srinivasrao, M.Tech., is a career guidance expert and our students enjoy the benefits of his guidance regularly. The college gives equal importance to extra – Curricular activities also and encourages the literary, cultural, histrionic and athletic talents of Students. The College Cultural Association and the Athletic Association take care of these aspects and every year scores of our students participate in several activities conducted by other colleges and different Government and Non – Government organizations. Our students regularly participate in the AU inter Collegiate Youth Festival. The College has a NSS unit with 100 Volunteers carrying out its Activities effectively., It has been a matter of common observation that most of the students who have scored very high at the University Examinations fail to present any impressive performance at many competitive examinations. This is seen to be more true of students belonging to these two or three Districts. Having analyzed the situation carefully, Aditya Degree College has come up with a novel solution to the problem. We launched a new programme – the FACT Programme – Fundamentals for All Competitive Tests – a co-curricular programme running parallel to the regular academic programme throughout the year, with a view to equip the students with the various skills required for facing any competitive Exam, by the time they complete their Degree. Launched in 2006, this unique programme is slowly gaining popularity., While designing any programme for implementation in the college, the ultimate aim we have in mind is the all round development of the Student’s personality. We believe that having spent three years in the college, the students leave the college not only with the Degree, but carry with them an invaluable sense of self confidence and self – reliance, and a store of great memories to be cherished all life and career., Other Remarkable Achievements, We started PG courses last year with M.Sc., Organic Chemistry and the response is overwhelming, and we are going for two more courses this year. We are justly proud of our staff on the teaching and non-teaching establishment who always work with a sense of commitment, and are never tired of doing their best for the benefit of the students and helping them in their academic pursuits. The college has succeeded in enlisting the confidence of students and parents and enjoys a high reputation in the district.
