The eminent women folk of Kakinada resolved to do something to the cause of higher education of women in and around the town. This noble conviction resulted in the establishment of women’s college in Kakinada with the motto Stree Vidya Pravarthatam. In the year 1962 the efforts of Women Education Society Kakinada, led to the humble beginning of the college. In the year 1963 the management of the institution was transferred to the Trust Board of Annavaram Devasthanam. After a period of five years the Trust Board handed over the institution to the Government of Andhra Pradesh on 01-08-1968. Since then it has been named as ANNAVARAM SATYAVATHI DEVI GOVERNMENT COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, KAKINADA.
