These programs are carefully designed to provide students a clear edge in placement or further education. The college has excelled in all disciplines, curricular, extracurricular and co-curricular activities

Close to 70% of India still resides in rural and semi-urban areas. It is in rural India that a vast potential of talent and untapped creative and intellectual energy lies. If this group of people is not empowered, the nation as a whole cannot flourish and develop. With the focus of developing this rural force we started to think of ways to empower rural India, since youth stand at the forefront of all activities. The most impact full intervention was to initiate active participation. The HMRF saw the light of the day with IT/BPO boom in India. This was the eginning of a dream lived well that should continue to grow from strength to strength with every activity. HMRF evolved and a road map discovered, its scope of workspace initiating IT-STP at Hindupur. A first step towards formation of Hindupur rural STP was already taken.

The College has come a long way of 45 years-and with NAAC accreditationture are indeed an achievement. Largely due to the Founder -President, Sri. Dasa N. Govindiah Setty and the benevolent public of Hindupur, and the Government of Andhra Pradesh this college has grown from strength to strength to occupy a proud place in Rayalaseema.
Saradamba Dasa Govindaiah Setty College is a symbol for the promotion of Planned Educational Activity in this part of Andhra Pradesh. As a result of the Policy of the Government and the initiative of the local magnificent people this college has come into existence in 1965. The S.D.G.S. College Committee was registered in 1964. The long felt desire of Hindupur in having a Degree College was fulfilled by the grant of affiliation for a First Grade Degree College by the Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. This college was formally inaugurated by His Excellency Sri. V.V. Giri Garu, the then Governor of Karnataka. The class work commenced from July, 1965, with 120 students and 11 members of the staff. The efforts made by the Founder President, Late Sri Dasa N. Govindiah Setty and the founder Secretary and Correspondent. Katta Lakshminarayanaiah are commendable. The then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Hon’ble Sri Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Garu admitted this college for grant-in–aid. On account of the relentless efforts made by the founder president, and the founder secretary & Correspondent, 22 accres of land was purchased at a reasonable price from the Hindu Religious Initially the college offered Pre-University Course in Arts and Commerce and B.A. and B.Com at the Degree level. In the next year Science sections were added offering Pre-University Courses and B.Sc. at the Degree level. Subsequently B.com course in English Medium, CEC groups in English Medium in Intermediate were started were introduced. In 1998 B.Sc., (Computer Science), M.P.C. and M.E.C. in English medium Intermediate were also added to the existing courses. Thanks to the magnanimity of our M.L.A. and the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sri N.T. Rama Rao Garu, the college obtained permission to run M.B.A. course. This course was functionally operative since 1988. With the introduction of M.B.A. course, Sri Vasavi Institute of Management has come into existence with the permission of the University. Since then, the M.B.A. course has become one of the prestigious courses for this Institution.
