Bengal Institute of Hotel Management is situated a mere 179 kms from Calcutta in the lush green surroundings of the University township of Santiniketan. The town is easily accessible by rail and road from Calcutta , Siliguri and rail from Vizag, Bhubaneshwar, Kharagpur, Patna and the whole of North East and Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim. The institute is situated at Prantik (5 kms from the railway station) adjacent to the premises of “CAMELLIA” a three star deluxe category hotel and resort, spread on 3 acres of landscaped gardens and is the flagship hotel of Multiple Group of Companies. The hotel has 52 well appointed rooms and suites, conference facilities and three F&B outlets, swimming pool and an upcoming corporate club. The second hotel would be situated at Puri and is in construction stage and is expected to be completed and commissioned by March 2000. This hotel would be a state of the art modern resort hotel with 70 rooms and other amenities like a discotheque. Classes are held in a modern multi storeyed institute building while all practicals would be held at CAMELLIA.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
With the dawn of globalization and emergence of unified world economic order, ideological pluralism, ethnic variations and cultural differences of various nation-states needs to be chanelized for generating creative solutions to human problems. The developing countries, including India, struggling to position themselves in the changed economic scenario need to overcome their multi- dimensional problems of population growth, poverty and inequity, along with maintaining fast pace of industrialization. It is imperative, therefore that the less privileged societies develop a critical mass of trained managers and leaders responsive to the challenges of our times and inherent uncertainties of the future. Management education thus needs to be re-oriented to enable professional manager’s address these problems of developing countries in the context of emerging global environment. The number of professionally trained managers is awfully inadequate to take on this challenge, let alone meeting the growing requirements arising out of private initiative and influx on international chains. It is in backdrop of the scenario that The Multiple Group of Companies with considerable experience in Hospitality Management decided to extend its support in the field of hospitality education and established “BENGAL INSTITUTE OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT".

To establish linkages with various organizations, institutions, professional associations and national and international agencies, sharing the major concerns relating to management, manpower development and related activities in the developing world. To provide internationally standardized quality education without any other compromises.

The hotel and Restaurant program provides individuals for the industry with course works that will enhance career opportunities or to initiate start of a new career. It is designed to facilitate the student’s matriculation to three-year colleges.
