The Govt Degree College, Peddapalli, Karimnagar Dist was started in 1987 by the Andhra Pradesh Govt in fulfillment of the persistent wishes of the people of the region for an institution of higher learning in their town. Before starting the college, the local students had to travel to the headquarters town of Karimnagar, 35 km away for higher studies. It was unaffordable to most of the students, as they were children of farmers and farm labourers. Therefore, the people of the area craved for opportunities to pursue higher studies in their town. Being a historically important place with many cultural heritages, some of them traceable to first century AD or even earlier, and also being the birth place of some eminent personalities the place has an added reason for the demand. The establishment of the college was, thus, a boon to the people of the area and they gave full cooperation and support towards its growth and success.
