The Department of Computer Applications was established in the year 2008 dated: 23.08.2008. The Department offers Master of Computer Applications (MCA) – 3 Years (Full Time) Post-Graduate Programmer. It is one of the pioneering departments in the college. This Department comprises of experienced faculty members and is actively involved in research and in carrying out projects besides teaching. It is committed to impart quality education in the fields of IT, a field growing in leaps and bounds. The curriculum is so made that the course provides a good theoretical foundation through high quality teaching complemented by extensive practical training.

Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A) imparts knowledge on fundamental concepts of Computer Science, Information Technology and their various applications. The program emphasizes on extensive programming and software development experience over a wide variety of platforms and applications. M.C.A is a six-semester program under credit based continuous assessment pattern. The MCA program is open to the students of computer / non-computer background. The curriculum and syllabi of MCA is designed in such a way that it starts from the basics of computers and covers all the major areas of computer science.

The mission of the Computer Science Department is the creation and transmission of knowledge about the computer science discipline and profession. The mission has three components: teaching and learning, research and scholarship, and service. Foremost in the department mission is the commitment to excellence in all of three areas.

The department strives to prepare students well for either graduate school or a professional career. Our graduates are expected to be able to make the connection between theory and application. We support our faculty efforts to expand the body of knowledge, disseminate their findings through publication and consulting, and engage in intellectual inquiry. Our faculty are involved in curriculum development, textbook writing, and pedagogical innovations. Faculty members are encouraged to play a service role on the campus and in the local community.

HISTORY

The department was established in the year 1998 with an initial intake of 60 and with minimum infrastructure of two laboratories: Programming and Hardware labs. The department has grown in strength over the years in terms of Infrastructure facilities, Technical expertise, Faculty Strength, Modern Teaching Aids, Browsing facilities etc. The department has currently an intake of 120 students. The department has qualified and experienced faculty and technically competent supporting staff on its rolls. The department is accredited by the National Board of accreditation, New Delhi. Apart from regular academic work, the department is actively involved in industrial training, consultancy, research and other professional activities. The department has close interaction with software development firms and R&D establishments.

The Department will expand its crucial role within the academic and intellectual development strategy of the College. It is important that we contribute to computer science in a way that our faculty and students can devote themselves to take the maximal advantage of modern computer science to solve a wide range of complex scientific, technological and social problems. The department continues promoting innovative research and education programs in the core computer science as well as multidisciplinary application areas.
