The blessing of Almighty, our zealous SETHU EDUCATIONAL TRUST established SETHU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY in the year 1995 at Pulloor, Kariapatti - 626 106, Virudhunagar District with the motto of "KNOWLEDGE, SERVICE, PROGRESS" Sethu Institute of Technology, the brainchild of our Chairman, Mr. S. Mohamed Jaleel, renders his noble service since 1995 to the sustained growth of the educationally, industrially, economically backward rural area. The college started with 180 students in the year 1995 with three disciplines have flourished to the level of 2500 students in 7 disciplines with 1 Post Graduate Courses. College is located in Madurai - Tuticorin National Highway (NH 45B), Pulloor, Kariapatti, Virudhunagar District, Nearest Madurai Airport( 12 Km from SIT). The campus is spread over a vast land of 135 acres.
Every one strongly believes the concept that ‘Success comes to those who want and deserve it. There is one man who stands majestically for that concept. He is Mr. S. Mohamed Jaleel, who has great ambition and unrestricted imagination focused to the process of metamorphosis from illiteracy to academic excellence of the rural people. He had the instinct to serve the needy ever since his school days. He was an illustrious student in St.Joseph’ s College, Trichy. He came out with flying colors and joined law and was awarded Degree of Bachelor of Law by Madras Law College. With a vision to impart technical knowledge to the economically, socially and industrially backward people, he established Sethu Institute of Technology at Pulloor village, near Kariapatti in Virudhunagar District in the year 1995. He has been successful in his pursuit, as thousands and thousands of rural students are benefited with their academic enlightenment. His outstanding service to the ruralites has crowned him with many awards like, Communal Harmony Award by the Peace Trust, Kanyakumari, Best Administrator Award and Maamanithar Award by Victoria Edward Hall, Madurai. His service to the rural people is a non-stop endeavour that makes him a legend. It is the courage and conviction of our Chairman that has taken Sethu Institute of Technology to soaring heights within an incredibly short period of Ten years.
