K.L. Nagaswamy Memorial Polytechnic College is a Self Financing Polytechnic, established in the year 1983 and founded by Amarar. Thiru. K.L.N. Krishnan a Jet pump Industrialist and Philanthropist. The college has been approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and the Government of Tamilnadu. Our Polytechnic College is situated at Kozhimedu, Viraganoor P.O. just 3 kms away from the city of Madurai on the Madurai - Rameshwaram Highways. Ours is the most outstanding, non-profit, consistently ranked best institution of all the self financing Polytechnic College in the southern region of Tamilnadu. In 1983 the Tamil Nadu Government declared starting of self Financing Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges by Registered Societies to create job opportunities amongst educated youths. Taking this oppurtunity the Elite of Sourashtra Community promoted Sourashtra Polytechnic in Madurai with Mr.K.L.N.KRISHNAN, Polytechnic was managed so efficiently. It earned Laurels all over Tamil Nadu. The training in the Polytechnic was so superb that almost all the students passed out were self employed or well fixed up in major industries. One of them was so proficient in his employment that he was promoted to top ranking Installation Engineer in a German Textile Manufacturing unit in Bombay. This brought name and fame to K.L.N. Polytechnic.
The Polytechnic celebrated the Decenium in 1993 with Pomp and Fair with the Hon'ble BISHMA NARAYAN SINGH, the Then Governor of Tamil Nadu as Chief Guest and Dr.M.D.Kutthalingam, Vice Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University president. Mrs.P.K.R.Lakshmikantham, Ex.M.L.A. is the Vice President. All along her life she has devoted her full time and devotion for the development of Girls education. Since beginning in 1947 she continues to be the Correspondent of the Sourashtra Girls Higher Secondary School.
