Applications are invited from eligible scholars/candidates having
strong aptitude for promotions of Doctoral / Post Doctoral Research in
the specialized areas of Biotechnology, Chemical Technology,
Information Technology, Basic & Applied Sciences, Humanities &
Social Sciences, Management Studies, Environment & Disaster
Management and Law & Legal Studies in respective School of Studies
of this University and Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and
Communication Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering in
Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, which is the constituent
institute of this University.
The amount of Fellowship for persuing research for Ph.D will be
Rs.12000/- per month and for Post Doctoral research it will be
Rs.18000/- per month. Interested candidates may visit University

1. Applications on the prescribed form are invited
from the eligible research scholars / candidates for registration for
(a) Doctoral Fellowship;
and
(b) Post Doctoral Fellowship
for carrying out advance study and research in the areas of
specialization of Biotechnology, Chemical Technology, Information
Technology, Basic & Applied Sciences, Humanities & Social
Sciences, Management Studies, Environment & Disaster Management and
Law & Legal Studies in respective School of Studies of this
University and Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and
Communication Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering in
Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, which is the constituent
institute of this University.
2. Eligibility
(a) For Post Doctoral Fellowship, an applicant with
Ph.D. degree in any of the above mentioned areas of specializations /
subjects, having 60% marks in aggregate at Masters degree of an
recognized Indian University or equivalent with a First Division
through out the career (from High School Examination onwards) shall be
eligible to apply for Post Doctoral registration and fellowship . At
least two papers must have been published in the refereed journals at
the time of applying.
(b) For Doctoral programme and Fellowship, an
applicant, possessing any one of the following qualifications shall be
eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme of the University.
(i) A Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology /
Science / Humanities / Economics / Commerce / Psychology / Medicine /
Law / Education / Pharmacy / Management of the recognized Indian
university or a degree approved by the Association of Indian
Universities or any other equivalent qualifications to the satisfaction
of Academic Council of the University, in the relevant field, with a
First Division throughout the career (from High School Examination
onwards).
OR
(ii) Applicants with an MCA degree or a Bachelor’s
degree in Engineering / Technology / any other professional discipline,
with either 75% or more marks in aggregate and a minimum of three years
relevant experience in recognized Institute / University / Industry /
Government organization may be considered eligible for admission on the
recommendations of SRC, provided the candidate has a first division
through out the career (from High School Examination onwards).
(iii) The candidature of such candidate who is already
enrolled in Ph.d in any university other then GGSIPU would not be
considered for fellowship
(c) For SC / ST category and / or physically
handicapped candidates, a relaxation of 5% in marks shall be admissible
in any of the Examinations from High School Examinations onwards.
(d) Teachers working in any University or in the
affiliated colleges of this University and having a teaching / research
/ other relevant experience of not less than 5 years, may be allowed a
relaxation of 5% marks shall be admissible in any of the Examinations
from High School Examination onwards.
(e) Only one relaxation out of (c) & (d) will be
permissible for an applicant.
3. General Terms and
Conditions
(a) The amount of Fellowship for pursuing research for
Ph.D. will be Rs. 12,000/- per month during the first two years and
shall be raised to Rs. 14,000/- per month during the third year only on
the recommendations of the Research Degree Committee of the concerned
School. The amount of Post Doctoral Fellowship shall, however, be
Rs.18,000/- per month and the period will normally be two years,
extendable to third year in exceptional cases.
(b) Alongwith the application, an applicant for Post
Doctoral Fellowship must attach the synopsis of Ph.D. degree and the
list / details of papers published / presented by him /her.
(c) An applicant for fellowship for Ph.D. must attach
alongwith the application a synopsis of approximately 350 words
describing his / her interest in the field / area of research and the
objective with which he / she would like to take up his / her studies.
(d) Application form can be obtained personally from
the office of the Registrar, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University,
Kashmere Gate, Delhi or can be downloaded from the University website www.ipu.ac.in.
(e) Application processing fee of Rs.250/- and US$ 25
(US Dollar Twenty Five) prescribed for all eligible Indian Nationals
and Foreign Nationals / NRI’s or their wards respectively must be sent
alongwith the application form in the form of BD/DD in favour of the
Registrar, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, payable at
Delhi. The amount once remitted will not be refunded under any
circumstances. The name address and phone number of the applicant
should be mentioned clearly on the back side of the BD/DD. Application
received without the prescribed processing fee will be rejected.
(f) Eligible and shortlisted candidates will be called
for interview and to make a presentation for about 30 minutes about his
/ her Research Plan before the School Research Committee (SRC) to test
the comprehension of his/her field / area of research, academic
preparations and potential to carry out the proposed research in the
respective School of Studies.
(g) Selected candidate for Doctoral Fellowship, will
be governed as per the current ordinance, which can also be seen at
University website, before filling up and submission of the application
form. Fee structure for registration to the above programmes as given
in the University Notification IPV-7/(AR-Acad-I)/PHD/2005/15 can be
seen at University website www.ipu.ac.in
(h) Subject to the availability of suitable
candidates, 15 Fellowships will be granted for Doctoral and 5
Fellowships will be granted for Post Doctoral programme for the session
2007-08.
(j) Already employed / sponsored candidates will not
be granted any Fellowship. However they will be considered for
registration for Post Doctoral / Doctoral programme of this University,
provided they get the Study Leave from their employer to complete the
research study in this University.
(k) If a candidate is already drawing a Scholarship /

(l) The selected candidates for Post Doctoral /
Doctoral Fellowship will have to shoulder teaching load of 6-8 hours
per week in the respective School of Studies in the University.
(m) No TA / DA will be admissible for candidates
called for interview / presentation.
(n) Application duly filled in alongwith the
prescribed processing fee, must reach the office of the Registrar GGSIP
University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi – 110403 by September 12, 2008.(as
per the notification in Hindu Dtd.21-08-2008)
