National Power Training Institute, an ISO 9001 : 2000 and 14001 organisation, has been set up by MINISTRY OF POWER (GOVT. OF INDIA0 to function as national apex body for the Human Resource Development for Indian Power Sector. It has corporate office located at Faridabad (Hariyana) and operates on all India basis through the four Regional Institutes at Badarpur, Nagpur, Durgapur, and Neyveli.

NPTI, Nagpur established int he year 1975, is fully equipped with the latest state-of-the art infrastructure and expert faculties having field, professional and teaching experience. NPTI Nagpur has been maintaining number one position for the last 4 years among its Regional Institutes.NPTI Nagpur has well tuned, full-scope, hi-tech real time 210 MW fossil fuel fired simulator, a replica of 210 MW Unit-1 of Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station (MSEB). The process model of the simulator is based on BHEL-CE Tangentially corner fired boiler design and KWU turbine system. It facilitates training both in the conventional mode of control room operation and also on CRT key board based unit operation.
