To commemorate the birth centenary of renowned freedom fighter, Veteran Hindi poet and honored Journalist Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi, the Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal was set up.
The Madhya Pradesh Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita Vishwavidyalaya Sansthan Adhiniyam, 1990 of Govt. of Madhya Pradesh was passed as Act No.15 of 1990.The University was formally inaugurated by the then Vice-President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma on 16th January 1991. This University is having a unique administrative and academic structure in whole Asia was setup with an objective of providing high quality and innovative education, training and research in the fields of various fields including Information Technology and Computer Applications. The University is being developed as a pioneer centre for dissemination of knowledge and skills in these fields and evolving appropriate technology and software. Communication, not only an essentiality of human society, is also the vehicle for all- round growth and development of life. The quantum of revolutionary changes in the communication systems of the society during the last two decades is greater than the changes that have taken place in the entire history of mankind. The concept of ‘vasudev kutumbkam’ i.e global village is now a reality. The new technologies of communication have made ‘communication from and to everywhere and anyone at anytime’ easy, simple and instant. The barriers of caste, race, nationality and language are disappearing. In its place, a web of networks has already emerged. The entire humanity is today in the ‘communication’ mode. New systems of communication are easy to operate. They are user-friendly. But these systems need huge human resource for management, content creation, presentation and distribution. The human resource has to be intelligent,well informed, trained and professional. From journalism to animation, printing to network engineering, creative artists and writers to media managers – large number of media professionals are required in the near future. Besides working for the ever-growing media organizations, there is a tremendous scope for self-employment and entrepreneurship. Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCNUJC), Bhopal is engaged in nurturing and meeting human resource requirements of the society. In its campuses at Bhopal and Khandwa (in Madhya Pradesh), NOIDA (in UP), together with numerous institutes in the country, the University is engaged in providing teaching, training and research facilities in various fields of journalism and communication. The University is entering the academic session 2010-11 with a bouquet of new courses to meet the human resource requirements of media today and tomorrow. Our mission is to provide academic programmes in media according to the aptitude of each student. Our futuristic vision is to ensure a socially useful dialogue in every area of communication and mass communication.
