Indian Institute of Science & Management is situated in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand. To develop managers of high caliber, the college started imparting high standards of education in 1988. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Gradually, the college has made tremendous progress and currently, it is among the best management institutes in the region.

Indian Institute of Science & Management started functioning under the guidance of Dr.Sachchidanand, the then Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University. Currently, the college offers course in various branches of management studies, at the post graduate level. Apart from this, the college also conducts courses in Hotel Management & Catering Technology (Affiliated to State Board of Technical Education, Govt. of Jharkhand and approved by AICTE), along with bachelors in International Hospitality Administration, from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi (IGNOU), in Collaboration with American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, USA (AH&LEI).

The Institute of Science & Management (ISM), formerly known as Indian Institute of Science & Management had, came into being in the year 1985 under the aegis of Dr.Sachchidanand, the then Vice Chancellor of the Ranchi University, with an idea of catering to the long felt need of management education to the upcoming youth of the developing region of Chgotanagpur, now Jharkhand.
