About Shri Acharya Chander College of Medical Sciences Hospital, Jammu
The College and the Teaching Hospital are located on the picturesque hill slope above River Tawi about 8 Kms away from the heart of Jammu City. It commands a scenic beauty all around with Mata Vaishno Devi Trikuta Hills and snow covered peaks on the north and small green hills surrounding other sides. The College has been accorded Hindu Minority Institution Status by the Jammu & Kashmir State Government.
Departments/Faculty :-
a) Pre-Clinical Departments - Anatomy, Physiology & Biochemistry
b) Para-Clinical Departments - Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine & Community Medicine.
c) Clinical Departments - Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gyanecology, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Skin & STD, Urology, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Anaesthesia, Neuro-Surgery, Cardiology, C.V.T.S., Radio-Diagnosis & Imaging, Dentistry & Chest Diseased.
These departments are manned by highly qualified team of doctors drawn from different parts of the State and the Country. At present there are 108 Specialists working in different departments assisted by about 100 Senior and Junior Resident Doctors and Tutors. The Medical faculty in all the departments has been appointed in accordance with guidelines of the Medical Council of India. To support clinical departments in investigations, advanced Pathological, Biochemistry and Microbiological Laboratory facilities with Blood Bank have been established. Radio Diagnosis & Imaging department has X-Ray, Ultrasound with Colour Doppler, C.T.Scan and MRI.
Facilities :-
- Hostel Facility is available for Boys and Girls separately.
- Teaching Hospital is located in a serene atmosphere within the College Campus. At present it has capacity of 520 beds.
Recognition/ Affiliation :-
The Institution is recognized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi vide letter No.V-11015/2/2002 ME(Policy-I) dated 03.07.2002, on the recommendations of Medical Council of India.
The College is affiliated to the University of Jammu which is also the examining body of the programme offered by the College.

Bachelors Degree Courses
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
Strength of students in each course :- 100 per year.
The College offers programme of Bachelors Degree in Medicine and Surgery (M.B.B.S.). The course extends over a period of 41/2 years plus one year compulsory rotatory Internship required for the award of MBBS Degree.
