The Master of Arts in Sociology (M.A. Sociology), is a two years Postgraduate Sociology course in India. The aim of Masters sociology study is to provide in-depth sociological knowledge based on critical comprehension and analysis of social dynamics. It includes the study of Social Relation, Social Stratification, Social Interaction, Culture, in Applied Sociology, Comparative Sociology, Cultural Sociology, Collective Behaviour, Crime and Delinquency, Community and Demography.

The Sociology study develops good knowledge and understanding of research methods, analysis and statistical techniques, developing opinions and new ideas on societal issues, working collaboratively with using effective methods to communicate your ideas and conclusions, statistical and other quantitative techniques.
The study improves the knowledge, mental ability and an aptitude to think logically techniques.The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects of Principles and Techniques in academic discipline such as,
General Sociology, Classical Sociological Theory, Indian society and Culture, Research Methodology, Perspectives on Indian Society, Sociological Concepts and Key Ideas, Sociology of Health, Criminology, Environment and Society.

Eligibility

The candidate who have completed Bachelor Degree like Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or an Equivalent Examination, from any stream with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in master's study program.

Course Duration

This course requires 2 years o the time period in India. It’s a full-time degree course, but some candidates use part-time correspondence and distance learning the educational program and one can also go for online study option to earn master's degree in our country.

Further Study

After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do M.Phil (Sociology), Ph.D. (Doctorate in Sociology) and specialization research-oriented course in their respective field.
