Our Institution is a pioneer Institution of higher learning for female section in Raigarh district. It was established in the year 1983 to spread higher education in female section of ST/SC/OBC dominated eastern district of Madhya Pradesh. Initially, there was only Art stream with the following subjects – Hindi, English, Sociology, Political Science, Economics and Home Science when college began with a small strength of 46 students with 6 teachers. In 1995, M.A. in Hindi was started. Later on due to the growing inclination of girls towards the Commerce, the Commerce stream was introduced in the year 1999 and PG in commerce was started in 2002. Now we need to start Science stream also.

Institution is basically an undergraduate college, where there is no statutory provision to carry out research work. Institution has started a few non-vocational courses like Spoken English, DTP and DCA in Computer science, Tailoring, Beautician, short term certificate courses to equip the students with skills so that, they can avail the job opportunities generating due to fast industrialism.
