Bhilai Institute of Technology was established in July, 1986. It is the first self-financed Engineering College of the state of Chhattisgarh and is managed by the Bhilai Institute of Technology Trust. The biggest leap towards modernity and development of the Chhattisgarh region was the establishment of Bhilai Steel Plant at Bhilai. This single step proved to be an important factor in the transformation of an agrarian society into a thriving industrial region. These important developments necessitated suitably trained personnel. Withabove in view, some organizations, industrialists, charitable institutions and philanthropic societies of the region took an initiative for establishing an engineering educational institution. For this a trust was formed and duly registered. The Government of erstwhile Madhya Pradesh accorded the permission to open a self-supporting and self-financing engineering institute and thus, the Bhilai Institute of Technology came into existence. For this a trust was formed and duly registered. Government of Madhaya Pradesh accorded the permisson to open a self supporting and self financing engineering institution and thus in July 1986 the Bhilai Institute of Technology came into existance. The institution is affiliated to Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (M.P.).The institute is situated in Bhilai House and adjoining area located on Great Eastern Highway, and is being developed in a large area.The institute is managed by a Board of Trustees,which is headed by the Managing Trustee, who also acts as the Chairman of Governing Body. For admissions to various courses at Bhilai Institute of Technology, the Professional Examination Board, Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal shall conduct a combined entrance test examination along with all other engineering colleges in the State. The list of examination centers, eligibility for admission to the entrance test examination, cost of application form, examination fee payable, mode of payment of examination fee, courses and subjects, procedure for filling and submission of the application form, nature of test, maximum marks, time allotted for examination papers, method of indicating answers in objective type tests, the syllabus etc, shall be as notified by the Professional Examination Board, M.P. , Bhopal in its rule book for the conduct of this examination.
