Ram Jaipal College, Chapra was established in 1971 which is considered as one of the premier colleges of Bihar. It serves the needs of higher and quality education of the people of Saran commissioner. It comes under the Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalay University which is considered as one of the largest Universities in Bihar.

Ram Jaipal College established on 05th. July 1971 is one of the leading institutions of higher learning constituent to the JAI PRAKASH UNIVERSITY, Chapra Bihar for all academic and administrative purposes. In a journey spanning over four & half decades, the college has evolved from its humble beginning as Chapra College, Chapra, affiliated to Bihar University, Muzaffarpur to a bustling constituent unit of Jai Prakash University, Chapra, catering to thousands of students of Saran commissionary upto PG level quality education. It has been converted as constituent unit of Bihar University, Muzaffarpur in 1980. After formation of Jai Prakash University, Chapra in 1992 it came under jurisdiction of Jai Prakash University, Chapra.

The establishment of this college was a result of tireless efforts of several philanthropists, educationist & Social workers of Chapra under leadership of Late Hira Lal Rai Founder Principal of this college, this college got its shape by the grace of Late Babu Ram Jaipal Singh Yadav Former Dy CM, Govt of Bihar a renowned political leader of social justice, later this college has been named after him Ram Jaipal college, Chapra. Series of intellectuals of high calibers like Dr Lal Babu Rai, Dr Raj Nath Rawat, Dr Tapas Kumar Basu, Dr Ram Sherstha Rai and Prof Bipin Bihari served this institution as principal and contributed their hard efforts in shaping this college as launching pad of quality higher education.

Presently college is running from its own building spread over in landed area of 3.2 Acres with 13,314.21 constructed area located in heart of Chapra town, Dak Bungalow Road. We are imparting higher education upto graduation level in 14 subjects and upto PG level in 04 subjects. We always promotes organization of seminars, lectures, workshops, in order to promote extension & outreach activities for the holistic personality development of students NSS & NCC chapters are functional in our college.
