Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) Exam

Xavier Admission Test (XAT) is a national-level entrance exam, for admission into the postgraduate management programmes at Xavier Institutes, conducted by Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur. Besides XLRI and other Xavier Institutes, hosts of other reputed Top B-Schools in India also accept XAT scores including Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai and Goa Institutes of Management, Indian Institute of Finance, New Delhi and S P Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree of a minimum three years duration in any discipline with at least 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience by March 31. General Management (GM) candidates may choose to apply through XAT 2024 or GMAT score.
  • NOTE: All Indian candidates must appear for XAT 2024. However, NRI and foreign candidates may apply through the GMAT score

Eligibility for NRI/Foreign Candidates

  • NRI or foreign national candidates have to apply through GMAT scores. Candidates from Dubai or Nepal are exempted from applying through GMAT scores as XAT will be conducted in these two international cities.

Registration Fee

  • XAT Registration Fee (without late fee) – Rs. 2000/-
  • Candidates interested in XLRI programmes need to pay an additional fee of Rs. 200/- each.
  • Indian candidates can apply through GMAT/GRE for PGDM (GM) whereas an NRI/Foreign national can apply through GMAT for all the programmes. Kindly note GRE scores are only valid for PGDM(GM).
  • Fee for Indian Candidates applying for PGDM(GM) through GMAT/GRE– Rs. 2500/-
  • Fee for NRI/Foreign Candidates applying for one or more programmes through GMAT– Rs. 5000/-

Mode of Payment

  • Payment Gateways: Using Debit Cards (RuPay / Visa / Master Card / Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets.
  • Bank Branches: XLRI programs need to pay an additional fee of Rs.500/- each

Selection Criteria

  • The selection criteria and XAT participating institutes vary from B-School to B-School. It is generally a two-step process. In the first phase, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their XAT performance and institute cut-off.
  • Shortlisted candidates have to appear for WAT or Essay Writing or Group Discussion/Group Activity and Personal Interview rounds

Exam Pattern

  • Candidates, who want to secure a high rank in XAT 2024, must understand the exam pattern for the same thoroughly. It is as follows.

Marking Scheme (last year)

  • Candidates get +1 mark for correct answer in all sections.
  • The negative marking is -0.25 mark for incorrect answer in all sections except GK. There was no negative mark in GK
  • Penalty for unattempted questions: -0.10 Negative marks for each un-attempted question after 8 un-attempted questions

  • There is no specific syllabus for XAT 2024 announced by XLRI. However, based on the past years’ XAT analysis, experts suggest a probable XAT 2024 syllabus, which mentions the section-wise important topics for the test.

The XAT 2024 Admit Card is the document that tells you exam date, time, center, instructions for Xavier Aptitude Test. The organizing body XLRI issues XAT admit card to those students who applied on time.

XAT Result

The result of XAT is expected to be declared in the last week of January. The exam is likely to be conducted in the first Sunday of January.

  • Enter Security TextClick Login
  • Check the Sectional and Overall Scores

The hard copy of the XAT Score Card is also sent to the candidate by post. The XAT participating institutes will announce the list of candidates shortlisted on the basis of their XAT cutoffs.

The final selection procedure includes Group Discussion or Written Ability tests and Personal Interview rounds. The XLRI or Xavier Associate Management Institutes conducts a separate selection procedures and no common admission process is conducted for these institutes through XAT scores.
