Excellence Scholarships 2017 At Swiss Government, Switzerland

Scholarship

Excellence Scholarships includes:

  • PhD Scholarships:
    • The scholarship amounts to a monthly payment of CHF 1,920.
    • A total wavier of tuition fees.
    • The scholarship is only valid for full time PhD studies in Switzerland.
    • Special CHF 300 housing allowance (paid once at the beginning of the scholarship).
  • Postdoctoral Scholarships:
    • The scholarship amounts to a monthly payment of CHF 3,500 Swiss Francs.
    • A total wavier of tuition fees.
    • Non-European grantees receive a lump sum for their airfare (provided at the end of the scholarship).
    • Special CHF 300 housing allowance (paid once at the beginning of the scholarship).
    • The scholarship is only valid for full time Research in Switzerland.
  • Research Scholarships:
    • The scholarship amounts to a monthly payment of CHF 1,920.
    • A total wavier of tuition fees.
    • The scholarship is only valid for full time Research in Switzerland.
    • Special CHF 300 housing allowance (paid once at the beginning of the scholarship).

Eligibility

 

  • For PhD Scholarships:
    • Candidates should have a master degree or equivalent university degree recognized by the Swiss University.
    • Candidate must not be more than 35 years old at the moment of the application.
  • For Postdoctoral Scholarships:
    • Candidates should have a PhD degree.
    • There cannot be a gap of more than 5 years between the award of the PhD and the application deadline.
  • For Research Scholarships:
    • Candidates should have master degree or equivalent university degree.
    • Candidate must not be more than 35 years old at the moment of the application.

Ph.D Scholarships 2015 offering by Swiss government for Foreign Students

The Swiss Government through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS). The Swiss government is offering scholarship for students pursuing their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), post-doctoral and research programs for the academic year 2015-16. Applications opened on August 1, 2014.

About Scholarship :

Three types of scholarships- PhD, Postdoctoral and Research Scholarships will be awarded to students . The scholarship is not for Bachelors or Masters programs.

The Swiss diplomatic representation and/or national authorities select the applications for the preliminary round. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) then assesses the short-listed applications and takes the final decision.

Eligibility

The applicant should have:

* A Masters degree or equivalent recognized by the Swiss University.
* The applicant must not be more than 35 years old at the time of application.
* Applicants who have been in Switzerland for more than 1 year at the time of application are not eligible.
* Applicants must provide a letter (e-mail) from a Professor from the Swiss institution stating that he/she is willing to supervise the PhD.
* In the case where the PhD must provide an admission letter or proof that they are being considered for admission.
* Applicants must have a research proposal including a timeframe (the central piece of the application.)
* Applicants must be in command of the necessary language skills required for PhD studies.
* Applicants who have already benefited from a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship are not eligible to apply for a second scholarship.

In case of Postdoctoral students the applicant is required to have
* PhD degree; also
* There cannot be a gap of more than 5 years between the award of the PhD and the application deadline.
