Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program 2020 – Howard Hughes Medical Institute invites applications for Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program 2020 from Science Researchers and Physician-Scientists in the Biomedical and Life Science disciplines.

Aims

a.This fellowship aims to award funds for advanced research in the field of biomedical and life science
b.Selected fellows will receive annual support of USD 70,000 salary for the initial year and a USD 20,000 expense allowance for a maximum of four years.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:
a.Be from any gender, racial, ethnic, and other groups underrepresented in the life sciences, including those individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, especially women of any ethnic or racial group as well as any individual identifying as Hispanic, Black, Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander, or American Indian / Alaska Native
b.Be a basic science researcher and physician-scientist in the biomedical and life science disciplines
c.Hold a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) from a research institution in the U.S., which must be conferred by the start of the grant term
d.Have been accepted to join a laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher at a research institution located in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) at the time of the application due date
e.Have no more than 16 months of postdoctoral research experience
f.The date or anticipated date of conferral of the doctoral degree must be on or after September 1, 2018, and before January 19, 2020
g.MD or MD/PhD applicants in residency, clinical fellowship, or postdoctoral training can have no more than 16 months of postdoctoral training by January 8, 2020
h.For the purposes of this award, research activities during residency or clinical fellowship are not considered postdoctoral training.
i.The postdoctoral training mentor must hold a tenured or tenure-track position (or equivalent) at an institution in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico).
