Eligibility Criteria

The SilverZone International Reasoning and Mental Ability Olympiad (IRAO) is open to students from Classes 1 to 12.

For the Level 1 exam, all students in the specified classes are eligible.

Registration Process

The registration for the IRAO is conducted through the students’ respective schools. Here are the steps involved in the registration process:

1. Parental Consent: Students must obtain a signed consent form from their parents before proceeding with registration.
2. School Coordinator: Students should submit the signed consent form along with the registration fee to their school coordinator.
3. Prospectus and Participation Forms: Registered schools receive a prospectus containing participation forms for various SilverZone Olympiads, including IRAO. Schools not registered with SilverZone can request a prospectus via email.
4. Registration Fee: The participation fee for the IRAO is typically INR 155 for students in India. The fee may vary for schools outside India, where it is usually around USD 8 per student. Schools may also collect a nominal additional fee to cover administrative costs.
5. Submission Deadline: The registration deadline for IRAO is generally set for September 30 each year, and students are encouraged to register well in advance to secure their participation.

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

Number of Questions and Duration

The exam pattern for the SilverZone International Reasoning and Mental Ability Olympiad (IRAO) varies by class level:

• Classes 1-2: 25 questions, 40 minutes duration
• Classes 3-5: 30 questions, 40 minutes duration
• Classes 6-8: 35 questions, 40 minutes duration
• Classes 9-12: 40 questions, 50 minutes duration

All exams are conducted in English and consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions. OMR answer sheets are provided for all classes, allowing students to retain their question papers while returning only the answer sheets for evaluation.

Scoring System and Negative Marking Policy

The scoring system for the IRAO is straightforward:

• Each correct answer contributes to the total score, with no negative marking for incorrect answers. This encourages students to attempt all questions without the fear of losing points for wrong answers.
• The total marks for the exam are typically 100, and the raw score is calculated by summing the marks for all correct answers. The absence of negative marking allows students to maximize their potential scores by attempting every question.

Awards and Recognition for Participants

Types of awards and certificates

Participants in the SilverZone International Reasoning and Mental Ability Olympiad (IRAO) are eligible for various awards based on their performance. The awards include:

• Cash Prizes:
  • 1st Rank: ₹10,000
  • 2nd Rank: ₹7,500
  • 3rd Rank: ₹5,000
• Gift Certificates: Awarded to participants ranked 4th to 25th, with varying values.
• Topper Achievement Certificate: Given to participants ranked from 26th to 500th.
• Medals of Excellence: Awarded to the top three zonal and state rank holders, as well as class toppers who score at least 50% marks.
• Participation Certificate: Every participant receives a certificate that reflects their class, zonal, and Olympiad ranks along with their scores.
• Golden Medal of Excellence: Awarded to winners in shared ranks (up to 10 students sharing the same rank).

Criteria for winning

The criteria for winning awards in the IRAO are based on the following:

• Rank Performance: Awards are given according to the rank achieved in the Olympiad, with higher ranks receiving more substantial prizes.
• Minimum Score Requirement: Class toppers must achieve at least 50% of the total marks to qualify for medals of excellence.
• Shared Ranks: If multiple students achieve the same rank, the cash prize is divided equally among them, and each receives a Golden Medal of Excellence and a certificate. For more than 10 students sharing a rank, they receive a gift certificate, a Medal of Excellence, and a Special Achievement Certificate.
• Zonal and State Rankings: Awards are also given based on performance in specific zones (North, West, East, South) and state rankings, allowing for broader recognition of student achievements.
