UoH start-ups bag best start-up awards at IKMC-2022 |

Two start-ups namely Bycus Therapeutics and UR Advanced Therapeutics incubated at the ASPIRE BioNEST, a Biotech incubation centre at University of Hyderabad (UoH), won the best start-up awards at the International Knowledge Millennium Conference (IKMC-2022) held on 29-30 October, 2022 at HICC Novotel, Hyderabad.

The IKMC is a two-day flagship event organized by IKP, a multisector gathering of innovators, start-ups, industry experts, academia and policymakers to brainstorm on challenges, opportunities and innovations for a brighter tomorrow. Several start-ups participated in the event and based on their merit, they were awarded with best start-up awards. UoH start-ups bagged first and second prizes under the Pharma, Biopharma and Diagnostics division.

Bycus Therapeutics

Shri Jayesh Ranjan, the Principal Secretary of the Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT), of the Telangana in the presence of Dr. Deepanwita Chattopadhyay, Chairman & CEO of IKP Knowledge Park and Shri HK Mittal, Former Programme Head of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Tech. Commercialisation at DST GOI, and current Chairman Start-up India Seed Fund Committee awarded the winning teams. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan appreciated the efforts made by the University of Hyderabad and the ASPIRE BioNEST in creating a vibrant innovation and incubation ecosystem.

UR Advanced Therapeutics

Bycus therapeutics that stood in the first place, an UoH alumni start-up (by Central University Scholars) is developing novel processes for enzyme based biological drugs for human use. UR advanced therapeutics stood in second place and is developing different products based on biomaterials, including UR Dynamic Apoptosis Detection Kit (UR-DAD) and bio-ink for 3D cell printing etc.
