Parents of kindergarten students of BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar have accused the school of unfairly increasing the fee by 35%, from ₹61,664 to ₹82,960, for the new course. They protested in front of the school building on Monday, saying school officials had not posted the kindergarten tuition schedule on their website and refused to provide an explanation.
A parent of a kindergarten class student said the quarterly fee has increased by about 35%, which is unreasonable and many parents cannot afford. In the past, parents of kindergartners have objected to the increase three times, leading to several meetings between school officials and parents
One parent said she received a threatening call from the school on Sunday, saying their children would not be able to continue their education if they protested or defamed the school. At a meeting Monday, school officials asked parents to sign a written statement that their children would not be coming to school to collect utility and maintenance fees after classes ended.
The parents explained that they had already paid for six months and did not want a refund, but asked for a detailed payment plan to find out. The parents narrated the incident to Vishwakirat Kahlon and Kamaljot Kaur, members of the inquiry team constituted by Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhane.
Principal Anuja Kaushal denied the allegations saying the matter was resolved amicably after meeting the parents. Kahlon assured parents that the matter would be investigated and any unreasonable behavior would be taken seriously.
