JNMC Imparts Training To Health Workers On INTUBATION PROCEDURES

Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has started preparing manpower given a possible third Covid wave by imparting training to Assistant professors, senior resident doctors, resident doctors and nurses in ‘intubation procedures’.

The training programme for covid care has been initiated on the advice of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor.

“We have already completed the first of the three training slots from June 21 to June 30 in which assistant professors and senior residents were given the necessary training. The next two batches of junior residents and nurses will continue their training for the next ten days,” said Prof QaziEhsan Ali, Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care.

He added that the training is the key step for our preparedness before a further uptick in Covid cases.

Prof Qazi pointed out that this first of its kind initiative at JNMC has become possible because of the timely logistics support extended to the Department by JNMC Principal, Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui.

Prof Shahid said that the best possible efforts are being made to train the health workers in intubation procedures and handling of ventilators, provided to JNMC through the Prime Minister’s Care Fund.

In the training programme, JNMC health workers from various specialities such as medicine, respiratory diseases, orthopaedics, cardiology, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynaecology and others are participating.

A Video Laryngoscope was also presented to DrHaiderHussaini (Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine) by Prof Qazi. Dr Haider received it as a gift for his excellent participation.
