High Capacity Oxygen Generation Plant Inaugurated At JNMC

Aligarh, June 28: Much to the relief of people in the backdrop of a strong possibility of the third Covid wave, a high capacity Oxygen Generation Plant, capable of producing 874 litres of oxygen per minute to cater to 250 patients at a time was today inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor at the Trauma Centre, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

The Rs 1.48 crore plant has been imported from Germany after a generous largesse of Rs 52 Lakhs by AMU Chancellor, His Holiness, Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin. The rest of the money came from munificent contributions from AMU Old Boys.

Inaugurating the Oxygen Generation Plant, Vice Chancellor, Prof Mansoor informed that the unit has two PSA generators, two compressors and one air tank with the capacity of 5,500 litres and an oxygen storage tank of 3000 litres.

He added that medical oxygen has become an important commodity in the fight against the Covid pandemic and with the commissioning of the plant, the oxygenated bed capacity of JNMC will be greatly enhanced.

He thanked AMU Chancellor and alumni for the donations.

Dr Obaid A Siddiqui (Nodal Officer, Oxygen Gas Plant) said that the plant will reduce our dependency on liquid oxygen and will help us in becoming self-sufficient in terms of generating oxygen.
