Graduation Ceremony for 2017-18 Batch MBBS Students Held at GIMSR Medical College in Visakhapatnam

The graduation ceremony for the 2017-18 batch of MBBS students at GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) Medical College took place at the GITAM Deemed to be University campus on Monday.

Sanjay Zodpey, the President of the Public Health Foundation of India, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech, he acknowledged the progress made in improving healthcare access, but he also highlighted the persistent inequalities due to socioeconomic status, geography, and gender in the country. Managing the health of 1.3 billion people is a complex task, but he encouraged the graduates to play a crucial role in addressing the lack of healthcare equity in India and to emerge as leaders in their respective specialties.

GITAM President M. Sribharath congratulated the students for making their parents proud by becoming doctors. He emphasized the institution’s mission and vision in reaching out to the underserved and providing excellent healthcare training to the aspiring medical professionals.

GITAM Vice-Chancellor Dayananda Siddavattam emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research in the health sector and advised the students to participate in new drug discovery projects.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by GIMSR Pro-Vice Chancellor B. Geetanjali, who congratulated all the graduates. During the event, the MBBS graduates received their well-earned certificates.
