The JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two session i.e. session 1 (January 2026) and Session 2 (April 2026). JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exams are scheduled from 21 to 30 January 2026, while Session 2 will be conducted from 02 to 09 April 2026. The JEE Main 2026 examination, conducted by NTA, is set for the designated exam date. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains is the gateway to India’s premier engineering institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other government-funded technical institutions. Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main

To be eligible to take the JEE Main, students must have passed their class 12th examination, or an equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their main subjects. Additionally, students must have scored a minimum of 75% marks in their class 12th examination, or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.

Preparation Tips for JEE Main

  1. Understand the Exam Pattern and Syllabus: Familiarize yourself with the exam pattern and syllabus of the JEE Main to get a clear idea of what to expect on the day of the exam.
  2. Time Management: Create a study schedule and stick to it. Make sure to allocate enough time for each subject and practice as many previous year question papers as possible.

JEE Main Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is as follows

  • Mode of Exam –
    • Paper 1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
    • Paper 2A (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test (Part-III) in pen and paper (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.
    • Paper 2B (B. Planning): Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II), and Planning-Based Questions (Part-III) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode only.
  • Question type – The questions are Objective Type – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Questions for which the answer is a numerical value.
  • Exam Duration – The entrance exam is of 3 hours for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) or Paper 2A (B.Arch.) or Paper 2B (B.Planning.), 3.5 hours for B.Arch. & B.Planning (both).
  • Language of Question Paper – The question paper is in language English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
