Food Technology is a branch of food science that deals with the production processes that make foods. Food technologists work in the research of food and development to ensure that the food products are safe for consumption and are of good quality. Food technology covers all aspects of food science, including production, processing and distribution. Professionals in the field of food technology work to improve manufacturing methods through preservation, storage and developing new product. They work with food scientists to enhance the nutritional value of foods.
Some of the techniques for food preservation are spray drying, juice concentrates, freeze drying and the introduction of artificial sweeteners, colorants, and preservatives. Many products such as dried instant soups, reconstituted fruits and juices, instant noodles etc are manufactured which takes less time to cook and have good nutritional value.
