Periyar University invites applications for admission to the PhD Program for the academic session 2023-24. The Common Entrance Test for PhD Program will be conducted for various departments, affiliated colleges, and research institutions of Periyar University. Important Dates
- Last Date for Submission of Online Application: 15th December 2023
- Last Date for Submission of Hard Copy: 18th December 2023
- Date of Common Entrance Test: To be announced
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should have passed a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade.
- For candidates belonging to the SC/ST community and those who qualified for the Master’s degree before 19th September 1991, the minimum eligibility marks shall be 50% in their Master’s degree.
PhD Category
Candidates can register under the following categories for the PhD program:
a) Full Time (with or without stipend or fellowship) b) Part Time (teacher or non-teacher; internal vis-à-vis external) c) Research Fellows/Research Assistants/Technical Assistants/Project Assistants/Training Officers in Extension Departments approved by the University, appointed in the Research Projects funded by recognized Agencies/Government are also eligible to register for Ph.D. on a full-time basis in the same department provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down. d) Independent Research without Supervisor
Application Process
Interested candidates can apply online only through the University Website www.periyaruniversity.ac.in, and the necessary fee must be paid online.
Steps to Apply:
- Login to www.periyaruniversity.ac.in.
- Click on the Admission menu and then on the Research submenu.
- Click on the online portal.
- Click on the PhD Entrance Box.
Application Fee
- General – Rs. 1,000/-
- SC/ST (The community certificate should be uploaded) – Rs. 500/-
- Differently-Abled (The differently-abled certificate should be uploaded) – Rs. 500/-
- Mode of Payment: Online through Debit card/Credit card/Net Banking.
Selection Procedure
- A Common Entrance Test will be conducted for all PhD applicants (FT & PT candidates) aspiring to join the University Departments and approved affiliated colleges/institutions.
- No PhD Programme offered through the distance education mode.
- Candidates who qualify UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR (NET)/SET/GATE/DST Inspire qualified are exempted from appearing in the written test but shall attend the interview conducted by the Department Research Committee.
