Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for admission to the PhD program must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Possession of a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university.
- Minimum aggregate marks of 55% in the postgraduate degree program, or equivalent grade.
- For candidates with a four-year undergraduate degree followed by one year of postgraduate study, a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in the undergraduate program is required.
- Alternatively, candidates who have completed a program deemed equivalent to a master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body are also eligible.
- A relaxation of 5% marks at the postgraduate level is applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/MBC (NCL) and PH categories.
Reservation
Reservation policies for PhD admissions at Mohanlal Sukhadia University are as follows:
- Reservation will be implemented subject-wise while assigning supervisors for available vacancies.
- Reservation will be in accordance with the rules set by the Rajasthan Government for each department.
- If no candidates from reserved categories are available, vacancies may be filled by general candidates as per the University and UGC rules.
- An additional seat will be created in each department specifically for candidates from the TSP (Tribal Sub-Plan) region of Rajasthan who have qualified in the Research Entrance Test but were unable to secure a supervisor during the interview.
- No candidates will be exempted from the Research Entrance Test, regardless of whether they have qualified UGC/CSIR NET (JRF) or any other equivalent examination.

Application Fee
- General/EWS / OBC (Creamy layer)/ MBC (Creamy layer) – Rs.1000/-
- PH/SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/ MBC (Non-creamy layer) – Rs.500/-
Selection Process
- Candidates will be selected on the basis of entrance test & Interview.
Scheme of Test
The examination will comprise one paper consisting of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with each question carrying one mark and no negative marking.
- Section A will include 50 MCQs on Research Methodology.
- Section B will contain subject-specific questions.
- Examinees must secure a minimum of 36% marks in each section of the paper.
Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks Required:
- General/Economically Weaker Section/OBC (Creamy Layer)/MBC (Creamy Layer): 50%
- PH/SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/MBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 45%
Syllabus
- Section A will cover Research Methodology.
- Section B will include subject-specific questions.
- The syllabus for Section B will be the same as that of the UGC/CSIR NET examination, and where not available, it will be as uploaded on the official website.
