About

LUCET (Ladakh University Common Entrance Test) for admission into 2-year PG programs, 5-year Integrated regular Courses offered by State Universities and Professional Colleges under the Jurisdiction of University of Ladakh for the academic year. The LUCET will be conducted by University of Ladakh on behalf of LUCET. The Office of the Convener, LUCET is located in Ladakh University Campus. Eligible candidates who wish to apply for LUCET may submit their applications through online mode.

Courses

2-year PG programs: Arabic, Botany, Chemistry and Information Technology (Kumba-thang campus, Kargil), Travel and Tourism Management, Geology, English, Commerce, Maths and Zoology (Taru-thang campus, Leh).

5-year Integrated (3yr UG and 2yr PG) programs: Sociology (EJM College, Leh) and Economics (Govt Degree College, Kargil).

Eligibility Criteria

M.A. English: For admission to the program, the first preference will be given to the candidates who have passed/appeared in B.A. (Hons). Second preference will be given to the candidates who have passed/appeared the qualifying exam with English Literature as the main, elective or additional subject irrespective of whether the exam passed is in Arts, Science or Commerce stream. In both the cases the candidate should have minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying exam. A candidate who have passed/appeared in the qualifying exam without English Literature subject may also be considered subject to the availability of seats left vacant, if any, provided the candidate has secured a minimum of 60% in the qualifying exam.

M.A./M.Sc. in Arabic/Maths/Geology/Zoology/Chemistry/Botany: A candidate seeking admission in any of these programs must have passed/appeared in the final year of Bachelor’s Degree Exam with the concerned subject as one of the elective subjects with minimum of 50% marks.

M.Com.: A candidate seeking admission to the program must have passed/appeared in the final year of the qualifying B.Com. exam with minimum of 50% marks.

M.Sc. Information Technology: For admission to the program, the candidate must have qualified or appeared in Bachelor’s Degree Examination of 10+2+3 pattern in the discipline of Science, Management, Commerce, Arts, Engineering or Technology or any other degree equivalent of at least three years duration with at least 50% marks.

Masters in Travel & Tourism Management: A candidate seeking admission to the program must have passed/appeared in the final year of the qualifying exam in any stream with minimum of 50% marks.

Integrated courses in Sociology/Economics: A candidate seeking admission in the program must have passed/appeared in the Higher Secondary Part-II exam (10+2 pattern) of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education or an exam recognised as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks along-with the papers in the subject of Sociology/Economics. However, in case of candidates who have not qualified Higher Secondary part-II exam with Sociology/Economics as the elective subject are also eligible provided that they have 60% marks in their qualifying exams.

How to Apply

Online applications can be uploaded on the university website https://uol.ac.in/ . Due to internet problems in J&K and places of Ladakh, candidates can collect application forms offline as well. Such candidates can collect and submit the offline application forms at the given centres –

The University has created its Entrance Test Portal with the domain name https://uol.ac.in/  Its link is also available on the University of Ladakh website (https://uol.ac.in/). The process of making an application for admission in various courses during the academic session has been made available in both online/offline modes.

Exam Cities

LUCET will be conducted in the pen-paper (OMR based) mode. The examination may be conducted at four places viz. Leh, Kargil, Jammu and Srinagar. Candidate must show their preferences regarding their choice of examination centres as per their own convenience. Centres in Jammu and
Srinagar will be based on the condition of minimum applicants of 50.

The Centre allotted will be indicated in the Admit Card. Applicants must note that the Examination Centre once allotted to a candidate shall not be changed. The final decision to allot a Centre to a candidate shall rest with the University.

Paper Pattern

· Exam paper shall comprise of 60 objective type questions for Integrated courses and 90 objective type questions for PG courses of one mark each.
· Duration of the exam would be 90 minutes.
· The negative marking will be 0.25 marks for every wrong answer recorded.
· Each question paper will have three sections with weightage of 20 and 30 marks each in Integrated and PG exams respectively, thus totalling 60 and 90 questions in all.
· For Integrated course’s test, first section will be General Knowledge (based on the 11th and 12th syllabi), General English and Reasoning & Mental Ability Test.
· For the PG course exams, first section will be subject specific, second section will be General English and the third section will be Reasoning & Mental Ability Test.

Selection Procedure

Candidates shall be judged on the combined marks obtained in academic merit and the total marks obtained in the entrance Exam for both Integrated and PG Courses. Percentile of each merit will be calculated as follows –
o Academic merit of the qualifying exam – 30%
o Entrance Exam – 70%

(i) A Question Booklet containing the questions and a separate OMR Sheet shall be provided to the candidate at the beginning of the Test.

(ii) The candidate, within 10 minutes of the issue of the Question Booklet, shall check the Question Booklet to ensure that it contains all the pages in correct sequence and that no page/question is missing. In case of faulty Question Booklet, the candidate shall immediately bring it to the notice of the Superintendent/Invigilators to obtain a fresh Question Booklet.

(iii) The candidate is required to write his/her Roll Number, Question Booklet No. and Set No/Series, if any, at the appropriate places provided in the answer sheet in Ball Point pen only. In addition, he/she is also required to fill up Roll Number in the space provided on the answer sheet by darkening the appropriate ovals by Blue/Black Ball Point pen only.

(iv) The candidate is required to write with Ball Point pen only.

(v) Each question shall be followed by four alternative answers. The candidate is required to identify the one which he/she feels to be the correct answer and record the answer by darkening the appropriate oval in the answer sheet with Blue/Black Ball Point pen only,

(vi) The answer will be treated incorrect if more than one oval is darkened or an oval is darkened improperly. Any other method of marking such as tick mark, cross mark, use of dot, line mark and half-filled oval or marks outside the oval shall not be evaluated.

(vii) If any question is not attempted, the candidate is required to leave all the ovals against that question as blank. Such an answer will be awarded zero mark.

(viii) Inner cover page of the Question Booklet or the blank space/page at the end of Question Booklet may be used for rough work.

(ix) No page from the Question Booklet is to be torn or removed. If a candidate is found tearing any page from the Question Booklet, he/she shall be liable to punishment for adopting unfair means and shall not be allowed to continue in the Entrance Test.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

o Downloading of admit cards will start soon after the Application process gets over. Candidates will be required to download the Admit Card online from the official website www.universityofladakh.in
o Candidates can also collect the Admit Cards offline from the given four cetres.
o Candidates must carry along the Admit Cards with them at the exam center and must save their admit cards until the admission process gets over.
