PhD. in Engineering

• The doctoral programs in Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham aim to prepare scholars to excel in their research areas, addressing the intricate engineering and technological challenges prevalent in today’s highly competitive and demanding technological landscape. The Amrita Schools of Engineering hold the prestigious accreditation rating of ‘A++’ by NAAC (National Accreditation and Assessment Council of India).
• Exceptional students, both from within the country and abroad, who aspire for careers in engineering, are encouraged to pursue their PhD studies at any of the four Schools located in Coimbatore, Amritapuri, Bangalore, and Chennai.

Eligibility Criteria

Full-Time PhD:

Candidates holding a Master’s degree are eligible to apply for admission. Examples of acceptable Master’s degrees include: ME, M. Tech., M. Sc., MCA, M. Com., MFA, MJMC, MSW, MBA, MS by Research, and MPhil. All applicants are expected to have a strong academic record.

Part-Time PhD:

Candidates with a full-time appointment at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham or at another academic/R&D organization are eligible to apply for part-time admission. Other eligibility requirements for such candidates are the same as for full-time applicants. Part-time students are allowed to progress at a slower pace in completing their doctoral requirements.

Integrated PhD:

Exceptional students enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs at Amrita are permitted to pursue a Ph.D. and can be considered for Integrated Ph.D. admission. Completion of the undergraduate degree is mandatory for such applicants.

Dual Degree PhD:

Applications for dual degree admissions are accepted as and when opportunities for such admissions become available at the International Partner University (IPU).

Admissions Criteria

• NET qualification; If no NET then the following are used:
• PG degree percentage greater than 65%;
• Research publication or conference presentation;
• Interview score greater than 70%
