Ph.D. in Natural Resource Management programs are often taught by social and natural scientists, and the schools offering such programs are often located next to natural resources such as forests and mountainous terrain. Students learn to apply biological, social and physical sciences to the conservation, preservation and management of those resources, and in doing so they must study the terrain extensively. They learn how humans have affected natural resources and how social policies can be adjusted for the preservation of those resources.
