The National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has released the notification for the Joint CSIR UGC NET December 2023 exam, which is conducted for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship (LS) /Assistant Professorship. CSIR NET December 2023 Exam Details:
- The CSIR NET December 2023 exam will be held from December 26 to 28, 2023.
- The examination is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS) /Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should have an M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ B. Tech/ B. Pharma/ MBBS with at least 55% (without rounding off) marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and 50% (without rounding off) for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender, and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.
- Candidates enrolled for M.Sc. or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying exam as of the closing date of online submission of the Application Form can also apply in the Result Awaited (RA) category, provided they complete the qualifying degree within two years from the date of declaration of Joint CSIR-UGC NET Test result.
- B.Sc. (Hons.) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD programs are also eligible to apply.
- The upper age limit for JRF is 28 years as of July 1, 2023, with relaxations for reserved categories. There is no upper age limit for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor.
Age Limit& Relaxation:
For JRF (NET): Maximum 28 years as on 01-07-2019 (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non creamy layer)/ Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants).
For LS (NET): No upper age limit
Application Process
- Candidates can apply for Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2022 through the “Online” mode. Submission of Online Application Form may be done by accessing the NTA website https://csirnet.nta.nic.in/
- Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate.
- Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as given in the Information Bulletin and on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
- Candidates must ensure that the Email Address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own as all information/ communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on registered Mobile Number only.
Application Fee
Candidates applying for the Test may deposit their Examination fee, after verifying their eligibility, in any branch of the Indian Bank throughout the country by paying the following fee in cash through bank challan to be downloaded from the CSIR website OR through NEFT from any other Bank branch. The journal number or the UTR number given by the Bank is to be filled in the payment details while submitting the application form:

Exam Pattern
- Mode of Exam: Computer Based Test (CBT) only
- Exam sessions: The CSIR NET entrance exam will be held in two sessions;
- First session: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
- Second session: 02:30 pm to 05:30 pm
- Duration of Exam: 180 minutes (03 hours)
- Type of Question: All the parts will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions.
- Question Paper: The question paper shall be divided into three parts.

Exam Centres
It is mandatory for candidates to select four cities of their choice while filling the Online Application Form of Joint CSIR-UGC NET.
The effort will be made to allot the Centre of Exam to the candidates in order of the City choice opted by them in their Application Form. However, due to administrative reasons, a different city or nearby area may be allotted.
How to Apply
– Interested & eligible candidates may apply Online through a link available at CSIR, HRDG website.
– In order to apply Online, the candidates are required to download Bank challan Performa from the above website and then deposit the requisite examination fee in any of the Indian Bank branches throughout the country or through NEFT.

A candidate may opt for any of the above centres. No request for change of centre would ordinarily be granted.
Syllabus
The question paper shall be divided into three parts, (A, B & C) as per syllabus & Scheme of Exam
Part ‘A’ shall be common to all subjects. This part shall contain questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison,series formation, puzzles etc.
Part ‘B’ shall contain subject-related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus.
Part ‘C’ shall contain higher value questions that may test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket
Admit card download from CSIR website.
The candidate should also download hall ticket from CSIR official website.
The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.
The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.
Cutoff
Candidates have who score more than cut off Marks would feature in the merit list. Candidates names included in the merit list will be called for counselling rounds. Candidates can check previous years cut off marks to get an idea of Cut off for the current year as cut-off will be declared after the declaration of Result.
