JEE Main is conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for most papers. For B.E./B.Tech (Paper 1), the exam consists of three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each subject has 30 questions divided into two sections: Section A contains 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and Section B contains 10 numerical value questions, out of which candidates must attempt any 5. Each correct answer carries 4 marks, and each incorrect MCQ answer results in a deduction of 1 mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in numerical questions. The total marks for Paper 1 are 300, and the exam duration is 3 hours.
