Yes, FMGE is mandatory for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India who have obtained their medical degree from a foreign medical university and want to practice medicine in India. However, there are a few exceptions. Candidates who have completed their medical education and obtained a recognized medical qualification from countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand may be exempted from FMGE, provided their qualifications meet the recognition criteria of the National Medical Commission.
