The JEE Main rank is calculated based on the candidate's normalized percentile score. Since the exam is conducted in multiple sessions, NTA uses a normalization process to ensure fairness across different question papers. The percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below a particular score. The All India Rank (AIR) is prepared based on the best percentile score obtained by the candidate across all sessions attempted in a year. Tie-breaking rules are applied if multiple candidates have the same percentile score, considering factors such as higher Mathematics percentile, then Physics percentile, then Chemistry percentile, followed by age and application number.
