A high CAT percentile can significantly improve a candidate’s chances, but it may not fully compensate for a weak academic profile, especially at older IIMs. Most IIMs use a composite score that includes CAT percentile, Class 10 and 12 marks, graduation scores, work experience, and diversity factors. Newer IIMs may place relatively more emphasis on CAT performance.
