    The National Research Centre for Oil Palm(NRCOP), a constituent body of Indian council of Agricultural Research(ICAR) is the only Institute exclusively devoted to Oil Palm research in India. It serves as a center of excellence for conducting and coordinating research on all aspects of Oil Palm including conservation, improvement, production, protection, post-harvest technology, transfer of technology and human resource development. It was established on 19th February, 1995 based on the recommendations of the Working Group constituted by Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Govt. of India. Mandate Oriented research on all aspects of Oil Palm with an objective to improve the productivity and quality. To serve as a national repository for Oil Palm germplasm and a clearing house for all research information on Oil Palm and co-ordinate National research projects. To act as a Centre for training in Research methodologies and technologies of Oil Palm. To generate nucleus planting material To collaborate with national and international agencies in achieving the above mandate.
