The Ayn Rand Institute (ARI) invites entries for The Fountainhead Essay Contest from grade 11 and 12 students from all around the globe. Participants need to submit 800-1600 word essays on any one of the three topics given by the institute. ARI has been organising essay contests on Ayn Rand’s fiction for more than 30 years and this year students can win over 230 prizes totalling more than USD 70,000.

Eligibility

The essay contest is open to class 11 and 12 students from all across the globe (except where void or prohibited by law).

How to Apply

Step 1: Write an 800-1600 word essay on any of the topics mentioned above.
Step 2: Visit the online submission portal.
Step 3: On the online portal, create a new account or log in using existing credentials.
Step 4: Complete the eligibility quiz and identify as a ‘Non-Educator’.
Step 5: Click on ‘View Programs’ button.
Step 6: Create a submission for The Fountainhead essay contest and complete the application form.
Step 7: Alternatively, submissions can also be sent through regular mail.
Step 8: Add a stapled cover sheet to the essay containing the following information:

  • Name and address
  • Email address (if available)
  • Name and address of the school
  • Topic selected
  • Current grade level
  • Name of the teacher who assigned the essay if competing for classroom credit (optional)

Step 9: Mail the essay along with the cover sheet to the following address:
