Four new National Institute of Design (NID) to be set to meet need of Industrial Designers. The institute will be set up in Assam, Andra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana so that more and more youngsters take up designing course.

The National Design Policy of 2011 is encouraging the creation of departments of design in all the IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology ), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) as well as private colleges.

Joint Admission Board ( JAB) of IIT for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) has addressed a few issues leaving the problem of vacant seats.

Seats in IIT remains vacant for two reasons 1) The candidate reserves the seat by paying the initial amount and not turning later. 2) The candidate leaves the course in the mid semester thus leading to vacancy.

IIT's solved their problem in 2009 – 2010 by calling students for second round of admission. They have also called students for third round of admission in the year 2011.

After CAT it is the turn of IIT's to go online for conducting Joint Entrance Examination. They are yet to check the feasibility of the online test. IIT Delhi has invited all IIT directors to attend a workshop where the online model will be demonstrated. Education Testing Services ( ETS ) will be making a presentation and presenting in the workshop.

Elizabeth M King, World Bank Director Education said that the quality of education is the country is poor. Though more and more Indians have access to good education with the opening of new schools and colleges but the educational standard is still low when compared to other countries.

She said it is not so important to enroll students in schools and colleges but to check where they stand when compared to international students.
