Precipitation means any thing falling from the sky which include rain, snow, hail etc. on the surface of the earth when they become too heavy and unable to float in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(ii) What is water cycle?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process by which water continually changes its form and circulates between oceans, atmosphere and land is known as the water cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(iii) What are the factors affecting the height of the waves?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Factors affecting the height of the waves:

The strong gravitational pull exerted by the sun and the moon on the surface of the earth causes the tides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ocean currents are streams of water flowing constantly on the ocean surface in definite directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(i) Ocean water is salty because it contains large amount of dissolved salts. Most of the salt is sodium chloride or the common table salt that we eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(ii) The quality of water is deterioting because we get it from polluted water sources. These water bodies are getting polluted due to dumping of untreated wastes, sewage, pesticides, toxicor decayed materials into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
