National Overseas Scholarship – Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment

Scholarship

The Scheme provides financial assistance to the finally selected candidates for pursuing Master level courses and Ph.D abroad in the accredited Institutions/University by an authorized body of that country, under the Scheme in following specified fields of study:

  1. Engineering and Management;
  2. Pure Sciences & Applied Sciences;
  3. Agricultural Sciences and Medicine;
  4. Commerce, Accounting & Finance; and
  5. Humanities & Social Science

One Hundred awards, subject to availability of funds, per year are available under the Scheme. 30% of the awards for each year shall be earmarked for women candidates. Vacant slots of previous year if any will also be carried forward. Department of social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of social Justice, Government of India invites post-metric Scholarship applications from eligible SCs for the 2021-22 academic year.

Scholarship Amount

  • Offering 63 lakh scholarship over a period of five years.
  • Rs. 2500 to Rs. 13500 per year depending on the level of education

Eligibility

The following are the eligibility criteria for awarding scholarships to the students under the various categories:

A. Post Doctoral

  • 60% marks or equivalent grade in post-graduation
  • Ph.D. Degree and 5 years experience either in research or in teaching or professional field

B. Ph.D

  • 60% marks or equivalent grade in post-graduation
  • 2 years experience either in research or in teaching or professional field or M.Phil degree

C. Master’s Degree

  • 60% marks or equivalent grade in graduation
  • 2 years work experience in relevant field
  • For all the above categories, the candidates should be under 35 years of age as on the first day of the month in which the scheme is advertised
  • Income of the applicant, either individually or together with family should not exceed Rs.18,000/-per month. This fact should be authenticated by the respective employers and a copy of the latest tax assessment certificate should be attached.
  • Only one child belonging to the same parents will be given the scholarship. The candidate will have to give a declaration in this regard
  • An individual can be given the scholarship only once during his lifetime

Besides the aforesaid eligibility requirements, there also are certain mandatory requirements which are required to be fulfilled prior to applying for the scholarships.
